Breast augmentation with implants<\/h4>\n

Breast implants<\/a> are silicone pouches filled with either silicone gel or saline. To insert them, an incision is made at the crease under the breasts or around the areolas. Implants can then be placed above the pectoral muscles or below the breast tissue and pectoral muscles. In some cases, if you choose saline implants, they can be inserted through the armpit.<\/p>\n

Implants come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and textures. Fat transfer<\/a>, also called fat grafting, is an augmentation technique that uses fat from your own body to fill and enhance your breasts. This procedure is done in two parts. The first part is harvesting fat from an area of your body that has excess, unwanted fat, using liposuction<\/a>. This may be the abdomen, hips, thighs or buttocks.<\/p>\n

Once the fat is harvested, it is spun in a centrifuge to separate out and purify the healthiest fat cells. The fat cells are then injected into various parts of the breasts. This provides more subtle and natural volume and fullness.<\/p>\n

Which is better, a fat transfer or implants?<\/h4>\n

Ultimately, the decision about which method of breast augmentation is right for you, is your own.<\/p>\n

Size and shape enhancement<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both implants and fat grafting provide an increase in breast size and enhancement of breast shape. Breast implants can provide a much bigger breast size and shape than fat transfer. Fat transfer provides more subtle enhancement.<\/p>\n

Options: look and feel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Implants offer more options and allow the augmentation to be tailored to your aesthetic
\npreferences. Implants do provide a natural appearance, but fat grafting utilizes your own fat which is organic and natural tissue, and this provides the most very natural appearance, feel and breast movement. Fat grafting also has an added benefit of slimming and sculpting your physique in the area the fat was harvested from.<\/p>\n

Complications<\/strong><\/p>\n

With fat grafting, there is no chance of rejection or implant complications. However, although it is rare, implants can be rejected. Other complications can arise, such as leaking, shifting or capsular contracture, which is the hardening of the scar tissue that naturally forms around the implants.<\/p>\n

Longevity of results<\/strong><\/p>\n
