Dermaplaning

As dead skin cells, debris and dirt build up in the outermost layer of skin, the countenance can become dull and tired-looking. Dermaplaning revitalizes your appearance by gently exfoliating the top skin layer to reveal a stunning, pristine complexion that will jumpstart your self-confidence. Dermaplaning is a favorite treatment among many well-known celebrities who are passionate about flawless skin under the spotlight and on-camera.

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a safe, effective cosmetic procedure for brightening and rejuvenating the complexion. During treatment, your licensed, experienced practitioner will use a 10-gauge scalpel to carefully scrape away “peach fuzz” and dead skin cells to immediately improve your skin’s radiance and youthfulness. Dermaplaning improves the absorption and effectiveness of medical-grade skincare products and also makes applying makeup much easier. The entire procedure takes just 30 minutes, so you can be in and out of the office without interrupting the flow of your busy day.

Dermaplaning

What should I expect during my appointment?

Dermaplaning is used to treat the face and upper neck exclusively. Your practitioner will use a sterilized blade to gently exfoliate your dead skin cells and fine hairs. This is no more painful than shaving your legs, but it is important that you remain very still during your treatment. The procedure will help minimize acne scars, wrinkles and rough skin patches, leaving behind a brand new layer of smooth, luminous skin.

How often is Dermaplaning performed?

Patients can undergo dermaplaning every 3-4 weeks, depending on your personal skin rejuvenation cycle. Once the fine vellus hairs grow back, dermaplaning can be repeated to maintain your results. Just one session, however, can immediately improve your look.

What are the benefits of dermaplaning?

  • Helps improve the efficacy of serums, creams and lotions
  • Clears away dead skin cells
  • Removes fine facial hairs that trap oil, debris and dirt
  • Promotes a softer, smoother complexion
  • Safe, gentle treatment
  • Improves acne scarring
  • Minimizes lines and wrinkles
  • Appropriate for all skin types
  • No downtime or discomfort
  • Immediate results

Who makes a good candidate for dermaplaning?

Clients suffering from rosacea, fine facial hairs (peach fuzz), clogged pores, and a build-up of dead skin cells will find dermaplaning especially effective. If you are currently taking blood thinners or you have active shingles, dermaplaning treatment will have to be postponed. Our team will assess your complexion during your private consultation for dermaplaning in our boston office.

What can I expect from my recovery?

There is no downtime with dermaplaning, so you can return to your normal schedule right away after treatment. You will be able to use makeup immediately. In order to preserve your results and prevent hyperpigmentation, be sure to wear sunblock with an SPF of 30 or higher.
